1996 Atlanta Olympics. 3 day equestrian team event. On the 2nd day, an Australian woman, Gillian Rolton, broke her collar bone and 2 ribs when her horse slipped and fell on her. She got back on her horse, fell at another jump, got back on and completed the cross country.
She refused painkiller drugs until after the show jumping event the next day so that she could be drug tested and show there was no cheating.
Her team won Gold

A competitor fell off his bike due to a nearby car, causing several other men to crash. One man ended up airborne and grabbed onto a tree limb off the side of the road, preventing his fall hundreds of feet below. Climbing back up to the road, and undaunted, he took a replacement bike from his team’s tracking car nearby, and continued the race till the end…..
